Skip across lazy Edgewater Drive and into the jade waters of your private Blanco River frontage with our kayaks. Use our tubes and go zen, then swim across to the rope swing to get those muscles moving. Throw some juicy steaks on, blend some Margaritas, and head down to the fire pit or soak in the hot tub. Come relax - it doesn't get much better than this!
The space
A fresh and pretty place with a beautiful view!
Welcome! We look forward to hosting you here in the Wimberley Valley where the air is clean and the river is clear. You'll have a fully equipped kitchen, soft and filtered drinking water. There's no need to pick up bottled water! Washer and dryer. There's a refrigerator downstairs in the storage area where the ping pong table is so you can put cold drinks in it and a bag of ice. Be sure you bring bags of ice for upstairs as well as downstairs if your group uses a lot of ice. Enjoy our fast Wifi and Roku to get to log into your Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc. This house has Spectrum live stream.
We have a drip coffee maker with filters and a Keurig. We provide the coffee. Bring your favorite cream.
We have a propane grill and a charcoal BBQ pit.
This house sleeps eight comfortably. We provide all linens and towels for these eight guests. There are four queen-size beds in four separate bedrooms.
You may bring blowups and linens for extra people up to 10; Guests need to supply blowups and linens for any blowups you bring, including pillows. Let us know how we may help you! We can easily add the guests for you because we do charge when you book for over 8 guests. Put in the correct number of guests and the system calculates it for you.
We don't allow any events/parties here, and glitter, confetti and banners are not permitted.
We welcome your sweet dogs! The fee is $50 per dog, per stay - up to two dogs only, and no aggressive breeds, please. It would be greatly appreciated if you would have your fur babies groomed before bringing them to Laura's Lodge. Please keep them off the beds and furniture. Occasionally, we will allow a third dog, but they will each be $50. Heavy shedders and long haired dogs need to be brushed and/or groomed before bringing them to this house, and we have the option to charge extra if the house is full of hair. Please do a courtesy sweep-out before you leave.
All pets must be on a leash while outside, and the dog gate kept up inside the house to keep them off the carpet in the loft. We do not allow puppies under one year old. Please pick up after your dogs.
Kayaks (3) and tubes (up to eight) are provided at no charge. PLEASE DON'T DRAG OUR KAYAKS AND TUBES. It burns holes in them!! We also have many life jackets in many sizes.
THIS HOME IS NOT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE. There is a flight of stairs to enter the front door, which is actually in back of the house next to the driveway. This house has been elevated above the new flood plain elevations.
NO DIVING IN THE RIVER, PLEASE! After the last flood, there are some large rocks in there. ADVISE YOUR GROUP AND KIDS. Fish, swim, kayak, and float!
Thank you for your consideration. We love our guests and consider it a privilege to host you.
Sincerely,
Katie, Cynthia and Charles Ramsay
Guest access
You'll have access to our private river frontage and kayak ramp. You'll have a patio exclusively for your group. In addition to our frontage, there are two river parks. Please share the ramp on the rare occasion someone from the Ramsay's House wants to launch their kayak.
They'll move on quickly because they have their own patio, and their patio is exclusively for them. We provide a key to these two coveted neighborhood parks that are a two-to three-minute walk in either direction of Laura's River Lodge. One of these parks is so neat because it's shallow and flows and is fun for the kids! With our tubes, parents can let children float downstream to the other parent. Kids love this!
We don't own the rope swing, but it's across the river and sure is a lot of fun.
It's located in the park two minutes west of Laura's River Lodge. People swim from Laura's river patio or take their tube or kayak over there.
The other smaller park is in the other direction. You can walk into the large park without the key, but the small park at the end of Edgewater needs your river key, which we provide. See our map and photo in the notebook onsite.
These parks are perfect for hiking and discovering million-year-old crustaceans and other fascinating features. The larger park has concrete steps at the far east end of the park where you can walk into the river into shallow water. It's great for small kids and the elderly who want to get in the river easily.
We're 3 1/2 miles to downtown Wimberley; four miles to Market Days, which is the first Saturday of every month. Full-size washer and dryer. Quality linens.
The reason for no water or ice in the fridge is because of guest abuse. We finally gave up on trying to provide this for our guests and ask that you bring in a bag of ice and put it in the freezer below the fridge and use our filtered water which is at all faucets.
